Please do not attend if you are showing any Covid-19 symptoms, these are:
*Loss of sense of smell or taste.
In order to protect everyone and to make the night a safe and enjoyable environment, we are requesting that everyone takes a lateral flow test no more than 48 hours prior to attending.
Lateral flow tests are self-administered at home.
Here's how to take the test, but best to follow the instructions in the booklet that comes with the kit:
Proof of a negative test will be a pre-requisite for entry.
How do you get proof of your result?
You will receive a text message from the NHS track and trace service within 2 hours of logging your result. (Full instructions come in the test kit box).
Simply show the confirmation text on arrival.
Lateral flow test kits are FREE and are easy to use.
They can be obtained from pharmacies, test centres, by calling 119 (7am - 11pm) or ordering online via the link below (allow 2 days).
If you plan on attending, please obtain your test kit ASAP.
More details on lateral flow test kits can be seen here:
🕺 PROOF OF VACCINATION
Proof of vaccination is NOT required.
Here's why: although a person may have had a vaccine they may still be carrying the virus but showing no symptoms.
However, according to the NHS, a negative lateral flow test result is 99.9% accurate in showing a person is not carrying the virus.
Masks are optional, it's your choice.
If you want to take part in the class please note that some people may choose not to wear a mask.
That's their choice.
Remember, everyone in the class will have recently been tested negative.
Please wear your mask when using the toilets. This is to comply with The Barn's regulations, not ours.
If you want to stick to one partner during the class then you can do this by standing in the outer circle.
Hugging is optional. Always ask first and be cool if the other person says 'I would love to but can we do it another time?'.
🕺 HAND WASHING
Hand sanitiser will be made available on the entry desk. Please sanitise your hands on entry.
🕺 ENTERING THE BUILDING
Please enter the building via the rear entrance.
🕺 FINAL THOUGHTS
At the moment, according to the NHS 1 in 160 people are carrying the virus.
We normally attract 80 people, give or take.
That means 'half a person' may be carrying the virus on a normal night.
By asking everyone to show proof of a negative lateral flow test we are massively reducing the chance of that 'half person' being in the room.
This simple measure of taking a quick test will mean that we can get back to doing what we all love in the knowledge that we are doing so safely.
I also think that this will be standard practice within the Salsa community.
For me, it's a very small price to pay for the reassurance that we are keeping ourselves and each other safe.
Now, go ahead and get your lateral flow test kits, if you don't have them already, and dust down those dance shoes.
See you Monday if you want to join in the fun, with your dance mode switched to ON
Paul and the SALSA SQUAD Team.
